Texas Improvements: Facility, inexpensiveness, durability, and efficiency
Ink on paper drawings. 31 x 40 inches each, framed, 2020

These series of drawings replicate fence patent illustrations filed by Texas inventors starting in the late 1800s.
All of these patents refer to the improvements, rearrangements, and manufacturing of structures to delimit
private land and prevent access in a state where 95% of the land is owned by private individuals.

The drawings include one illustration of a section of the wall to be built along the Mexico–United States border
issued by US President Donald Trump in Executive Order 13767, January 25, 2017.

These series inquire about notions of mobility, ownership, and freedom.
